Gear
Full gear recommendations are coming. Until then, here is the checklist we actually use.
Before you leave
- A current fishing license for the state you’re fishing (Montana FWP or Alabama ADCNR).
- The regulations for that water: seasons, limits and any special rules for the section.
- Tell someone where you’re going and when you’ll be back.
In the truck
- Rod, reel and a small box of the basics for the species there.
- Polarized sunglasses. They cut surface glare so you can read the water and see fish.
- Pliers or forceps, line clippers and a tape for measuring fish.
- Water, sun protection and a layer for when the weather turns.
- Waders or wading boots for rivers, and a wading belt if you wear waders.
- A downloaded offline map if the area has no signal.
Respect the access: stay on public land, close the gates you open and pack out what you bring in.
