Privacy Policy
Autonomy IT LLC d/b/a JB-AI Productions (“we”, “us”) operates the Wet That Line mobile app and the website wetthatline.app. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Short version: you can use the map without an account. We don’t show ads, we don’t sell your data, and you can delete your account at any time.
1. Information we collect
Account information
If you create an account, we receive your email address, display name (if you give one) and a sign-in identifier from the method you choose (email and password, Apple or Google). Sign-in is handled by Google Firebase Authentication; we never see your Apple or Google password.
Location
With your permission, the app uses your device’s location while it is open to center the map and show nearby spots. We do not track your location in the background. When you start a fishing session or log a catch, we store the spot you chose and its coordinates, not a trail of where you’ve been.
Your fishing activity
Sessions and catches you log: species, notes, optional photos, time, the spot, and a snapshot of the conditions at that moment. These are private to your account.
Things you share publicly
If you submit a new spot or a spot photo, that spot or photo becomes visible to other users. Photos are screened before they are published.
AI features
When you use Fish ID, Spot Sight or the chat assistant, the photo or message is sent through our server to Google’s Gemini AI to produce the answer. We keep a count of how many AI requests you make each month so we can apply the free allowance.
Purchases
Subscriptions are bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play. We never receive your payment card. We receive the purchase status and identifiers needed to turn your subscription on and keep it in sync.
Diagnostics and usage
The app uses Firebase Crashlytics (crash reports), Google Analytics for Firebase (how features are used) and Firebase App Check (to confirm requests come from the real app). These include device type, app version and an app-instance identifier, not your name or email.
Website
This website has no ads and no advertising cookies. Its map loads map tiles from our server (tiles.wetthatline.app, run on Cloudflare), map fonts and icons from GitHub Pages, and the map library from unpkg.com; those services see your IP address as part of delivering files. The spot map reads public spot and conditions data and does not ask you to sign in.
2. How we use information
- To run the app: show spots and conditions, save your sessions and catches, and answer AI requests.
- To manage your account and subscription.
- To fix crashes and improve features.
- To prevent abuse of free allowances and of the service.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
3. Who processes it
| Service | What for |
|---|---|
| Google Firebase / Google Cloud | Accounts, database, file storage, server functions, crash reports, analytics, App Check, website hosting |
| Google Gemini | AI photo analysis and chat answers |
| Apple App Store, Google Play | Subscription purchases |
| Cloudflare | Map tiles and email for our support address |
| OpenStreetMap Nominatim | Place search in the app (your search text goes to this service) |
| USGS, National Weather Service, Open-Meteo | Conditions data. Our server sends them spot coordinates only, never anything about you. |
4. Keeping and deleting your information
We keep your account data while your account exists. You can delete your account in the app (Settings → Account → Delete account) or by emailing support@wetthatline.app. Deleting your account removes your profile, sessions, catches and pending spot submissions, and the sign-in itself. Spots you submitted that are already public stay on the map without your name attached. We keep a one-way scrambled form of your email address for 90 days to prevent abuse of free allowances; it cannot be turned back into your address. See Data Deletion for details.
5. Your choices and rights
- Use the map without an account.
- Turn off location access in your device settings; you can still browse the map by hand.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion by emailing support@wetthatline.app. Depending on where you live (for example California or the EU/UK), you may have additional rights, and we honor them.
6. Security
Data is encrypted in transit and stored with Google Cloud. Access to your private data is limited by security rules to your own account.
7. Age
Wet That Line is intended for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
8. Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
